About the Fossil Lab

The Fossil Lab is a remarkably creative and inspiring space that is physically divided into a Research/Teaching Room, where prepared fossils are studied and lectures given to students, Collections Room, which houses fossils and recent specimens that comprise the University of Chicago Research Collection (UCRC), Fossil Preparation Room, which provides all of the equipment needed for cleaning small and very large fossils, Molding and Casting Room, where fossils are replicated and flesh models created, and a Bug Room, where a dermestid colony helps to clean the bones of recent animals for research and student projects.
